Effective October 28th, ALL volunteers must have undergone volunteer training prior to volunteering with a Literacy Initiative Books & Cookies club. A new Missouri law was passed at the beginning of October regarding volunteer background checks and to ensure that we are not interfering with this new law, we have put in place important measures that will be shared during the orientation. 

It is important to us that all our volunteers feel prepared when volunteering for the Books & Cookies program which is why it is now mandatory to attend if you plan to volunteer! 

The winter volunteer orientation will be hosted on Saturday, October 27th from 4:00-5:00PM at the St. Louis County Library - Headquarters Branch. 

Agenda:
​4:00-4:10:

• Discuss the mission and goal of the organization.
• Set norms and expectations.

​4:10-4:30:

• Introduce the program.
• Explain how to find resources on how to run a Books & Cookies club.
• Discuss new Volunteer Weekly.
• Come up with a theme for the winter.
• Answer questions.

4:30-4:45:

• Mock meeting.
• Run through potential issues you may face when volunteering.
