ABOUT MIA & COOPER
Mia Challis MIA CHALLIS hails from Perth, Western Australia with a Greek/Macedonian background. Finding a love for acting in school, Challis booked her first theatrical job at just 10 years old in the award winning feature film TWO FISTS, ONE HEART. After graduating school, Challis switched her focus from her studies back to her acting career where she booked RED DOG: TRUE BLUE the Lionsgate feature film, which grossed over 6.6 million dollars. Mia Challis then went on to play the lead role in dramatic films MEMORIES and BACKSTABBERS, which she filmed back to back. In 2019, Challis broke into the comedy world where she played ‘Sharni’ in RAINDANCE, the series by Bec Bignell who co-created the Network series 600 BOTTLES OF WINE. In 2020, Netflix teamed with super-producer David Heyman (Harry Potter) on the thriller television series CLICKBAIT where Mia plays JENNY, a recurring role in the eight-episode series. Challis is scheduled to finish filming in late 2020 once the filming restrictions are lifted due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Mia has always had an empathetic nature, which is why she was attracted to acting, where she can tell other peoples stories with justice. In high school Mia was the recipient of the Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork award which was sponsored by the Australian Defense Force, an Australian government initiative. Her award is credited to her outstanding leadership throughout her school years and the tremendous hours of community service Mia accomplished. Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, this avid surfer found acting in his teens and moved to Los Angeles at just eighteen years old. His risk payed off with his break through role of 'Nate' in Peacock’s teen series ONE OF US IS LYING based on the award winning book by Karen M. McManus. Getting his start in Australia on ABC series THE LEGEND OF GAVIN TANNER, van Grootel enjoyed roles on major projects including ABC series MYSTERY ROAD with Oscar Nominee Judy Davis. He then went on to play bad boy 'Dean' in NETFLIX feature film GO KARTS, directed by multi-award-winning Owen Trevor. Van Grootel played opposite Golden-Globe nominee Frances O'Conor and MOULIN ROUGE star Richard Roxburgh. An actor with a grounded nature who is focused firmly on the craft, van Grootel often comments that his acting interest was sparked by 'thinking another's thoughts'. Inspired by many actors who came before him, van Grootel points to how Leonardo Dicaprio is an inspiration... 'not just for his acting achievements, but for his determination to save the environment and the time and effort he invests in making people aware of such important issues.'
